Subject: Alert about possible legislation against waterskiers in Minnesota and how you can help

   Dear Water Ski Enthusiast:

Once again the freedom we enjoy as water skiers in the State of Minnesota is being challenged by the Minnesota Lakes Association (MLA), and potentially the Minnesota Legislature.

The MLA is currently distributing a survey soliciting opinions and comments regarding, among other things, a proposal to create a no wake zone within 150 feet of a shoreline on every lake in Minnesota, regardless of it's size. That would include your lake (and possibly your private, man made lake).

As you may guess, this would be disastrous for all of us.

I am asking each of you, your family, and your friends to take a few minutes of your time and fill the survey out. Tell them how you really feel. If enough of us respond against their proposals they may not present them to the legislature for a vote this upcoming session.

But we have to respond soon. If the MLA only hears from people who are in favor of the 150 foot no wake zone and other restrictive legislation they will probably present it to the legislature and lobby hard for it's passage.

A call to your local State Representative and Senator would help as well. They want to hear from you.

We've asked for your help in the past on these restrictive lake proposals and we'll be asking for your continued help in the future. The problem will not go away. So far they've heard our collective voices telling them we do not want restrictive legislation against water skiers.

Please take the time to read the attachments from Jim Olson, our Minnesota Water Ski Association Legislative Committee Chair and then send the attached survey to the MLA in Brainerd so we can all continue to enjoy our great sport of water skiing.

  Thank you!

  Sincerely,

  Paul Chapin

  President
  Minnesota Water Ski Association

PS Feel free to forward this email to anyone who you think may be willing to help. THX
